It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but it’s been a busy few weeks. I am officially graduating in less than 8 weeks. That’s a scary but exciting thought! I am ready to be done. But I really am LOVING my classes so far this quarter. I’m in 3, Church in the Age of Facebook, Development Tools and Practices and Thinking Missiologically. Here’s a quick brief on the classes and what’s been going on.
Church in the Age of Facebook is a class taught by Ryan Bolger. There are really only like 8 of us registered for the class, which is leading to some really interesting small group discussions. The point of the class is looking at the church and stuff in this new age, and learning how to understand the church in the wake of social media. I am working on some really interesting research for this class, that might go deeper than what I was intending to, so I’ll keep you posted on that.
Development Tools and Practices: This class is also SUPER interesting. I feel like this class has probably been the most practical class I’ve had at Fuller to this point. It’s taught by my favorite professor, Dr. Myers and this past week, we’ve had a guest lecturer, Ravi Jayakaran who is probably one of the leading practitioner on Development tools, like the Ten Seed Technique. There’s been a couple times thus far in the intensive I’ve been almost moved to tears because it’s reaching me in a practical but also a spiritual way.
Thinking Missiologically is taught by Doug McConnell who is the Dean of the School of Intercultural Studies and actually in the middle of transitioning to Provost of Fuller! It’s basically my capstone class, going through all the classes I’ve had at Fuller and learning how to integrate all of the different topics and subjects together. The reading for this class has been REALLY good, especially one book in particular, Making Room by Christine Pohl on the recovering of hospitality as a Christian tradition. It’s been really great so far!
So there you go – a quick recap. Nothing special, nothing new, just school.
