I have been in South Africa now for a little over 24 hours and all is well! I made it through the 30+ hours of traveling relatively unscathed. However, I did have to run through the Johannesburg airport to get from my flight from London, through customs, get my checked bag, run to a domestic terminal, recheck my bag and get to my new gate all in about an hour. But the Lord was willing to make it happen and so was I! It was some good exercise to get some blood pumping through the veins after two 11 hour flights back to back.
I also managed to stay awake until about 9pm last night. I was quite impressed with myself, since I think I got maybe around 6 hours of airplane sleep throughout that time. And as we all know, airplane sleep = pretty crappy sleep. But this morning, I was bright and chipper around 7am and raring to go! So raring in fact, I thought I’d take a walk around the property and promptly locked myself out of the house for about 45 minutes. It was also probably about 50 degrees outside. So a good night’s sleep and a freezing cold morning makes for a chipper Karen! 🙂
Throughout this trip, I think God is taking time to remind me what great friends I have! Traveling alone was actually really good for me because it reminded me what I love about traveling with friends. And since I’ve been here, I’ve been able to reconnect with some amazing people and meet some awesome new ones! It’s also been great to have emails and facebook notes and stuff of all you guys back home, which has been wonderful! So thanks for the notes and such – it’s appreciated!
I’ll keep you posted soon!
