I enjoyed learning about Jesus and the Church today, as well as Israel and the Church. Hearing about Jesus’ message as coming for the Kingdom of God was really beneficial. I learned more about how is message was not necessarily outside of what the Jews knew within their context, but how he subverted their common beliefs and knowledge to bring his new message of the new Kingdom of God.
I also enjoyed going into depth more about the differences and the uses of the Temple, the Synagogue and the home in the views of the Jewish people. More than that, I enjoyed learning about their use of the ideas of Fixed hour prayer as well as baptism. Hearing those ideas in a basis of a Jewish context really encouraged me to look up more about those ideas, especially Fixed hour prayer.

How could we subvert the meaning of church for the Kingdom today?

Curtis…that is the eternal question. Honestly, I think everyone has their own calling on how God is leading them to change the church through challenging it and subverting it. I don’t know what that looks like for me…honestly. I am hoping to figure that out by the end of this semester. Once I figure it out, I’ll let you know
