Why hello! It’s a pleasure to find you here. I hope you are doing well – because I certainly am! I can’t believe it’s been 21 weeks we’ve been on this journey of pregnancy! Last week I wrote a big long update on our lives, as well as the developing life of the nugget, so I’ll try and stick to the basics this week!
How big is the baby?
This week, we are still measuring the length of the baby, but it’s as long as a carrot! Can you believe it? It’s 11 inches long, which is just one inch shorter than the average ruler. WOAH. That’s nuts! Also, the baby is 3/4 of a pound! That’s almost the weight of a delicious, delectable, hamburger…mmm…hamburger! Anyway, back to the baby. Another website tells me the baby is the size of 5 tangerines! Is that as weird to you as it is to me? I mean, this baby is really starting to grow. A favorite blog I read here, in her pregnancy updates wrote in her 21st week that the baby has done the majority of it’s developing but now is the time when that kid (and me) just start packing on the pounds.
How am I feeling?
This week, I’ve been feeling great for the most part. I still sometimes even forget I’m pregnant! This week, I was in downtown LA for a retreat and so it was a bit tiring walking around all day, but it was fun nonetheless. Sleeping is starting to get more uncomfortable again. I am a back sleeper and so it’s hard for me to transition to sleeping on my side. I am really trying to be a diligent side sleeper, but I just feel so much more comfortable on my back. Anyway, so this weekend in LA, I had my first public acknowledgement that I was pregnant! A homeless lady asked me for change and then asked me if I was pregnant. I told her I was, and she asked me if I knew what I was having. I told her no, that we were keeping it a surprise. She told me it was a boy. Then she came back 5 minutes later and told me this time it was a girl. Basically, she told me I’ve got a 50/50 chance of having a boy or a girl. 🙂
I don’t remember if I wrote about this last week or not, but I am REALLY starting to feel the baby this week! I’m starting to notice a few trends in it’s movement too, which is cool! Also – Seth felt the baby for the first time…it kicked him in the head! See, he can hear the baby better than he can feel it, so he was lovingly listening to the baby chatting to it and then all of a sudden the baby gave him a big ol’ swift kick to the head! It was hilarious! We totally laughed about it for a good 3 or 4 minutes! But yes, the baby is movin’ for sure!
What am I eating?
I think the question has become, what am I not eating? I am starting to get to the point where I am feeling quite ravenous at certain parts throughout the day. In fact, right now…I am going to go eat a bowl of multi grain cheerios…Don’t judge – lunch was a couple hours ago and dinner isn’t for another few. Note to husbands of pregnant wives – you can NEVER have too much cereal around the house. It’s probably my go-to snack because it’s just so fast and delish. Not only that, you can have a bowl or two of the healthy kind and feel okay! Otherwise – my other delicious discovery this week was a fresa (strawberry) filled churro….uhm – AMAZING! I got it at Olvera Street in Downtown LA from Mr. Churro. And my friend Holland got a chocolate one that was just as delicious.
Well, that’s pretty much it from this week! Eating, sleeping, and feeling the baby! Hope your week has been just as good!
