These two weeks sort of blurred together for me because of some crazy things going on in my life. I just finished up my last round of performances before Baby Rouggly comes! I had the privilege of performing in a theatre adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ The Great Divorce. It was an amazing experience, but has plays go – it really ate up a LOT of my time. Hence, the two weeks kind of running together! But the baby got to make it’s theatre debut and I think it loved it! 🙂 It was really good every night, except opening when it, combined with a little bit of nerves, made me venture to the bathroom 7 times in the course of the 2 hour play. NO JOKE. And not only that, the bathroom was down in the basement under the stage! It was an adventure! But the show was really good and I got to experience some new things in theatre for me that I’ve never done! The show was in the round, meaning there were audience on all 4 sides of us! I also got the chance to play some characters very different to what I normally do. If you’ve read the book (to which I have not yet…*gasp*) I’d be happy to go into more detail as to what characters I played, but it’s kinda hard to explain if you haven’t read it. I also had a chance to meet some new people and act alongside them in this show! It really was an all-around GREAT experience, and while I (and baby) am totally wiped, it was WAY worth it
In other news, Seth and I both found out over the course of these two weeks as well that we both had some changes in our jobs! The past two and a half years, he’s been working the mid/night shift as a computer technician. This was honestly a great shift while I was in grad school because I had a bit more flexibility and my schedule changed every 10 weeks. I was also working from home, so that gave us the chance to see each other on a more consistent basis. But having graduated earlier this summer, the lack of seeing each other really started to put a strain on our marriage. Even though I started working at the same university, we never really got any good quality time because I was working on a more normal 8-5 (ish) schedule, even though working in student life is NEVER normal. So we knew something had to change. And after applying for a couple of jobs (still at the same institution) he found out he was chosen for a full-time 8-5 computer technician position! This was a HUGE blessing for us, especially that he was able to transition into this position within two weeks.
Futhermore – I’ve been working as a part-time employee at 29 hours a week. I found out last week that my department’s request to move me to full-time was granted and I started today as a full-time, benefits earning employee! So we both had a huge blessing come to us by way of jobs this past few weeks. In fact, as I sit here typing this, it’s 7:00pm on a Tuesday evening and we get to celebrate Valentines Day together with a quiet evening at home for the first time in probably 3 years!
All that to say – it’s been a BUSY few weeks! But on with the baby-ness!
How Big is the Baby?
This week, the baby met a HUGE milestone! We’re officially halfway everyone! Also, this week, the baby goes from being measured crown to rump (head to butt) to head to toe! So while it might seem like the baby grew a lot, it really is just being measured differently. Anyway – the baby is now as long as a banana, or about 10 inches. Yes – that’s almost a FOOT! Not only that, the nugget is 10.5 ounces! We are getting close to a full pound! I can’t believe how fast this is all happening! It’s amazing to think that just like 12 weeks ago we were talking about something the size of a raspberry!! From here on out – the baby will grow about a half an inch each week, but start packing on the pounds. Next week – we’re up to 3/4 of a pound I think!
What am I eating?
I am pretty much eating anything I can get my hands on. Seriously. For instance, today’s dining options consisted of two packs of instant oatmeal, a blueberry muffin, and a mini box of nerds..all before 11am. Then for lunch I had half a sammich, soup, and chips from Corner bakery. Then my afternoon snack was a donut (or two) and a few hershey kisses. Now I’ve just finished dinner which was a toad in a hole (fried egg in a piece of toast) and some cheese and crackers. However, the night is still young, so this might be dinner round 1. So as you can see, I am CERTAINLY eating! I still have a few cravings here and there, but nothing that’s like, “OMGIMUSTEATTHISFOODRIGHTNOWORIWILLDIE” sort of thing. But when I do eat something that sounds good, I swear it’s the best food I’ve ever eaten. Case in point, the other day, I went to Taco Bell (which I rarely let myself eat otherwise I would weigh a ton) and bought out half the store. As I was chowing down, I seriously almost cried at how good my bean burrito was. It was everything I wanted/needed/desired/lusted after in that moment. I felt like I could eat 20 of them. Then when I ate my soft taco, it was a wonder all over again. Let’s not even get to the cinnamon twists…Also – I might be drooling right now. Good thing Taco Bell is open late! I’ll post a picture of it, just to tempt myself!
Maybe I spoke too soon….OMGIMUSTEATTHISFOODRIGHTNOWORIWILLDIE!!!!!!!!! I need all of this…plus a root beer. mmmmm….root beer….
